Applied Learning Opportunities

About the Program

Individualized Studies lets you design your own degree based on your interests and goals. Starting in your second year, Individualized Studies allows you to create your own area of specialization, drawing from the University's various academic disciplines to produce a study plan that works for you. The program is ideal for motivated students who have a clear vision of what they want, like flexibility and independence in their studies and want to shape their own path forward.

Requirements: To enter the Individualized Studies program in your second year, you will be asked to prepare a statement describing your desired subject. You will also be required to identify the courses that are relevant to your theme. You will need to have completed at least 24 credits and no more than 66 credits by the start of the academic year to be eligible.

    Applied Learning Opportunities

Individualized Studies offers hands-on experiences through extensive opportunities for work placements, optional paid co-op and community engagement in the Faculty. In your final year of the program, you will complete a major project as part of a six-credit thesis course and you will work closely with your chosen supervisor. Study abroad opportunities are also a great way to enhance your hands-on experiences during your time in the Individualized Studies program.
