About the Program
Offering two streams of entry to Social Work at York, the Post-degree Bachelor of Social Work is designed for you if you have already completed a three-year undergraduate degree (90-credits) and want to pursue a career in social work. You’ll build on your previous education while developing practical skills in communication, research and policy analysis. The program focuses on social justice, equity and anti-oppressive practice, preparing you to work with diverse communities and address complex social issues. Learn about racial and colonial histories of social work while expanding your contemporary understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion. You’ll develop your knowledge of Indigenous social work, social welfare and human services and gain hands-on experience through a required placement, working with organizations in real-world settings. If you are looking to transition into an allied profession, this pathway provides the academic and practical foundation for professional social work practice.
