About the Program
In Sociology you study all aspects of societies, focusing on the social structures behind what many of us assume are natural human experiences. Our program explores the power relations that shape societies so that we may begin to envision a healthier and more equitable world. In this program, you’ll study the complexity of the social world and apply a critical lens to current social issues like economic inequalities, gender identities, changing family forms, migration, popular culture and media, race and racism, education, the law, social movements, healthcare and new technologies. The program encourages critical thinking and research skills, helping you understand how power, relationships and institutions influence communities locally and globally. Through coursework and applied learning, you’ll gain critical skills that can be used across many fields. If you are interested in understanding society and contributing to positive change, this program provides a strong foundation for diverse career paths and further study.
